Grado Black3 P-Mount Cartridge Both the Black3 and Green3 feature a three-piece OTL cantilever housing a Grado-specific diamond, securely mounted on a brass bushing. The Green3 cartridges are meticulously selected from Black3 production batches that surpass rigorous test specifications. Typically, around 15% of the production run meets these heightened standards and earns the designation of Green3. Grado’s OTL (optimized transmission line) technology ensures an optimal transfer of signal from the LP’s surface to the system’s generator. By effectively rejecting unwanted resonances and minimizing distortion, this technology preserves the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music while reducing noise from the cartridge’s motor system. The innovative OTL stylus/cantilever design enhances the listening experience by reducing record noise, expanding the soundstage’s height, width, and depth, and revealing previously unnoticed musical details. Both the Black3 and Green3 cartridges utilize Grado’s twin magnet system to achieve balanced stereo channels, with all internal magnetic circuit components held to rigorous tolerances for precise stereo imaging.
